Method
 

Directions
  1. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter with olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced yellow onions and sauté for 12-15 minutes until caramelized.
  2. In a saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and thyme. Simmer for 5 minutes and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Layer one slice of French bread with Swiss cheese, followed by roast beef and caramelized onions. Top with another slice of Swiss cheese.
  4. Spread softened butter on the outer sides of each sandwich.
  5. Grill the sandwiches on medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Slice sandwiches diagonally and serve with warm au jus for dipping.
