  • 0.5 cup sugar adjust to taste
  • 0.5 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed is best
  • 1 tablespoon lemon peels optional for added aroma
  • 1 cup water can use sparkling water for fizz
For Serving

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine fresh blueberries, half the lemon peels, sugar, and water. Stir occasionally for 5-7 minutes until blueberries burst and sugar dissolves.
  2. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract all syrup.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the strained blueberry syrup with cold water. Stir well and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
  4. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Serve over ice, garnishing with mint leaves, lemon slices, or whole blueberries.
