  • 8 tortillas small flour tortillas provide structure
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat fresh or canned
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp or imitation crab
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack
  • 2 tablespoons green onions chives can be a substitute
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning adjust to taste
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

  • 2 cups oil for frying vegetable or olive oil

Method
 

Preparation Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked crab meat, cooked shrimp, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  2. Lay a small flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of the seafood filling into the center. Fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly.
  3. In a deep skillet, add enough oil to cover the bottom, about 1-2 inches deep, and heat it over medium heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).
  4. Carefully lower a few of the assembled tortilla bombs into the hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried tortilla bombs and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Let cool slightly.
  6. Serve warm, optionally with dipping sauces like salsa or guacamole.
