Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare muffin tins with liners or grease them.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, blend melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and orange zest until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined.
  5. Fold in the fresh cranberries carefully to keep their texture.
  6. Scoop batter into muffin tins, filling nearly to the top, and optionally sprinkle topping over.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes, then reduce to 375°F and continue baking for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Let muffins cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
