Equipment

  • Large Skillet

Method

Directions
  1. Start by patting the shrimp dry using paper towels, removing any excess moisture.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine cornstarch, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Dredge the shrimp in the mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
  3. In a large skillet, heat enough vegetable oil over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes, until shimmering.
  4. Carefully add a batch of the coated shrimp to the skillet and fry for about 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium, add olive oil, and 1.5 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring until fragrant.
  6. Stir in red pepper flakes, honey, and rice vinegar, letting the mixture simmer for about 1 minute.
  7. Whisk in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the toasted sesame oil until creamy and well combined.
  8. Return the fried shrimp to the skillet and toss them in the sauce, letting them simmer for an additional 30 seconds.
  9. Transfer to a serving plate, garnishing with cilantro and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
