Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 2¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1 cup of warm water (about 110°F). Stir gently and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3½ cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt, creating a well in the center.
  3. Combine and Knead: Add the activated yeast mixture and ½ cup of melted butter into the flour mixture. Stir until sticky and knead for about 8 minutes.
  4. First Rise: Shape dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour.
  5. Prepare Garlic Butter: Melt ½ cup of butter, stir in 4 cloves of minced garlic and ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Shape Dough: Punch down the dough, tear it into walnut-sized pieces, and dip each in the garlic butter before arranging in a greased bundt pan.
  7. Second Rise: Pour remaining garlic butter over the arranged dough, sprinkle another ½ cup of grated Parmesan on top, cover loosely and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  8. Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown and the toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Serve: Allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then invert onto a plate and serve warm.
