Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté finely chopped onion for about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 7 to 10 minutes.
- Mix in uncooked rice, tomato sauce, oregano, salt, and black pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Brush melted butter on the bottom and sides of the baking dish.
- Layer 5 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each with melted butter.
- Spoon the filling evenly over the phyllo and smooth it out.
- Cover with another set of 5 phyllo sheets, brushing each one with melted butter.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving, garnished with parsley or dill.
