  • 4 cups water for boiling the pasta
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni feel free to use gluten-free pasta
For the Cheese Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter adds richness
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded from block for better melting
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese fresh mozzarella can offer a lovely twist
  • 1/2 cup warm milk prevents clumping in sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt to enhance flavors
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper for seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika optional, for extra flavor

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, add elbow macaroni and cook for 7–8 minutes until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. Return the drained macaroni to the pot and add in 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, gently stirring to melt.
  3. Gradually pour in 1/2 cup of warm milk and add shredded sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Stir continuously until cheese melts and creates a smooth sauce.
  4. Season with salt, ground black pepper, and optional paprika. Mix well to combine.
  5. Serve immediately, garnishing with additional shredded cheese or paprika if desired.
