Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Hearty Lasagna Soup
  1. Begin by pouring 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a large pot over medium heat. Allow the oil to shimmer.
  2. Add 1 pound of ground beef or Italian sausage to the pot and cook until brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Toss in 1 chopped medium onion and 3 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Pour in a 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes and 4 cups of broth. Stir and let bubble gently.
  5. Sprinkle in 2 teaspoons of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
