  • 1 cup soy sauce low-sodium if preferred
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce or stir-fry sauce for a vegetarian option
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey/maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth for enhanced flavor
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or any neutral oil

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Trim the flank steak and slice thinly against the grain. Combine beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil; marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Bring water to a boil, add broccoli florets and blanch for 1-2 minutes. Drain and transfer to ice water.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Cook half the marinated beef for 3-4 minutes until browned; remove and repeat with remaining beef.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic and ginger for 30 seconds. Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and water/broth; simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Return beef and broccoli to skillet, toss for 1-2 minutes until coated with sauce. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
